Cannatein™ hemp protein is an all- natural and balanced plant-based protein that is gluten and lactose free. It is produced by the mechanical milling of defatted hemp seed with no heat or chemicals applied during the processing.

Hemp Protein is extremely nutrient dense and contains high levels of B-vitamins, minerals, fiber, zinc, magnesium, iron, copper, folate, potassium, chlorophyll and essential fatty acids required for human health.  It also holds high quality plant protein with branched chain amino acids and all ten essential amino acids. It is an ideal protein for vegetarian and vegans and those who suffer from food allergies such as lactose intolerance.

Hemp protein provides the essential fatty acids (EFAs) omega-3s and omega-6s in a healthy 3:1 ratio. It is one of the few sources of gamma linolenic acid(GLA), an omega-6 EFA(1).  Essential fatty acids, also known as polyunsaturated fatty acids, are key for good health but cannot be synthesized by the body. EFAs are important in regulating blood pressure and reducing inflammation in many body tissues, including the arteries of the heart, where they can have a positive impact on reducing the risk of heart disease and stroke. Polyunsaturated fats have also been linked to reductions in cholesterol levels and atherosclerosis(2).

There are no known allergies to hemp products, making them a great choice for those unable to consume gluten, lactose, sugar, meat, or nuts.

Hemp seeds are very high in dietary fiber. Fiber helps keep the digestive system healthy and regulated. The fiber in hemp is primarily insoluble which passes through the body unchanged and causes an increase in satiety. Chronic digestive problems like constipation or bloating may be more manageable when hemp seeds are added to the diet.

Protein is key to staying healthy and is crucial for the developing fetus during pregnancy. Hemp provides high quality plant protein, concentrated in the nine essential amino acids, including branched chain amino acids. Hemp protein is extremely nutrient dense and contains high levels of B-vitamins, fiber, zinc, magnesium, iron, copper, folate, potassium, and essential fatty acids. It is an ideal protein for vegetarian and vegans and those who suffer from food allergies such as lactose intolerance.  For expectant mothers, hemp protein can be particularly beneficial due to high concentrations of iron, folate, omega-3 fatty acids, and B-vitamins.

Folate is essential for the production of healthy blood cells. It is especially important during periods of rapid cell division and growth as it is necessary for the creation and maintenance of new cells, and for DNA and RNA synthesis. Folate is also key in the prevention of neural tube defects in a fetus during the first few weeks of pregnancy.

Iron helps red blood cells deliver oxygen to the fetus while protecting against anemia, a common problem during pregnancy. Iron is required by the body to make new cells, amino acids, hormones, and neurotransmitters.

Finally, the omega-3 fatty acids found in hemp protein can enhance fetal brain and nervous system development.
