Pycnogenol® is a mixture of bioflavonoids derived from the bark of the French maritime pine tree.
With age, the cartilage cushion lining of our joints wears down, which can cause trauma and inflammation in the articular tissue that connects bones and joints. This inflammation usually results in pain, and reduced joint mobility. Overexposure of skin to sunlight can have negative effects. It can lead to hyperpigmentation, discoloration, and skin aging. All of these problems can be counteracted by antioxidants. Pycnogenol® is a key antioxidant that exhibits anti-inflammatory properties(1). It is a plant extract derived from the bark of the French maritime pine tree which grows exclusively along the coast of southwestern France. Pycnogenol® inhibits melanogenesis, (the formation of the pigment melanin, responsible for skin color) lowering skin pigmentation intensity so the skin is evenly toned. A clinical study demonstrated that Pycnogenol® has skin lightening properties, on over-pigmented brown spots and age spots.
